After releasing SHINE’s artwork, tracklisting, and release date, Wale serves up “Fish n Grits,” a collaboration with Travis Scott that allows the two MCs to act like a couple of rhyming chefs.
While trading bars, La Flame references the tragic death of Emmett Till and Mike Tyson’s infamous Evander Holyfield bite to describe himself. “Never, ever gotta write a will,” raps Scott. “Ni**as won’t beat me like Emmett Till / Ni**as won’t bite me like Holyfield / Might run it back on you, I’m in the field.”
Folarin picks up from there with a reference to “Running Back,” his single with Lil Wayne, and to Rodeo, Scott’s first album. “My money be coming in,” he rhymes, much like he did on his previous single. “Money be coming in / I just left the rodeo, ’cause she riding my joint again.”
“Fish n Grits” is the latest single off Folarin’s forthcoming SHINE, which is set to feature Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Major Lazer, and G-Eazy. The track will be an instant download for fans who pre-order the LP.
SHINE, Wale’s first album since 2015’s Album About Nothing, drops May 5. That same day, Folarin kicks off his “SHINE Tour” in Atlanta.
