After dropping a slew of mixtapes, Kodak Black delivers his full-length debut Painting Pictures.
The album follows the success of the Pompano Beach rapper’s hit single “Tunnel Vision,” which reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 on its way to being certified gold by the RIAA.
The 18-track set features appearances from Future (“Conscience”), Young Thug (“Top Off Benz”), Jeezy (“Feeling Like”), Bun B (“Candy Paint”), and A Boogie wit Da Hoodie (“Reminiscing”).
Painting Pictures is being released today along with Kodak’s Project Baby documentary, which was screened in New York earlier this evening. A trailer for the documentary shows Black reflecting on this album.
“I don’t sugarcoat,” he says. “I talk about the struggle. I talk about how I got it now. I talk about what I did as a kid. I talk about everything. Even if you ain’t been through that shit, when you listening to my shit, you’re gonna feel like you’ve been through it. It’s like a movie. I feel like you’re in this movie right now. I don’t rap. I illustrate. Everything I say is like you see it vividly.”
Despite dropping an album and a documentary, Kodak can’t celebrate freely. The 19-year-old is currently locked up after reportedly violating the terms of his probation.
