The Weeknd and Daft Punk link up once again in a mysterious video for Starboy’s standout smash, “I Feel It Coming.”
Directed by Warren Fu, the clip is a throwback to the ’80s with VHS effects, but it’s also futuristic in its concept. It shares the tragic story of a man, a brief romance, and a stone-shattering disaster.
As the sun sets and rises in this magical world, Abel offers MJ-like dance moves. Then, he meets his glowing companion, a gorgeous model who shines brightly before him. However, things take a turn from there as Abel’s new girl turns to stone. Before he can capture a seemingly venomous snake who roams around them, he’s frozen in time as well.
In the end, The Robots show up. In the midst of a snowstorm, they look down at something that appears to be buried. Could it be The Weeknd? A neon glow shines and the “Starboy” theme plays.
Fans may recall that “I Feel It Coming” was also part of Abel’s short film Mania. However, this is an entirely new video and concept. In some ways, it’s reminiscent of The Weeknd and Daft Punk’s Grammy performance of the song, particularly once it snows around them.
Currently, the XO boss is on his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour” through Europe with Bryson Tiller and Lil Uzi Vert, where he’s found time to link up with Drake in Germany and London. The North American leg with Rae Sremmurd, 6LACK, and Belly kicks off April 25 in Vancouver.
