6LACK is looking to “Free” himself in the dark and fiery video for the standout from his debut album FREE 6LACK.

The clip begins with a beautiful woman who appears to be 6LACK’s love interest. But slowly, the young crooner looks somber and distressed. Eventually, it becomes clear that 6LACK is being tied down—literally—by strings.

“Free’s” lyrics add to the video’s concept. “I know that you hate it,” he sings while trapped in a web. “But I’m freer than I’ve ever been / Something that you’ve never been.”

At the end, 6LACK is trapped on his captor’s bed, surrounded by fan pictures. While she goes to the bathroom, he finds a way out by starting a fire to free himself for good.

6LACK began making waves last year with the release of FREE 6LACK and this year, he earned some major co-signs by way of The Weeknd, who showed up to one of his concerts, and Jhené Aiko, who teamed up with him on “First Fuck.”

Next month, 6LACK will join The Weeknd on the North American leg of his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour,” which will also feature Rae Sremmurd and Belly. That portion of the run begins April 4 following Abel’s overseas trek. See additional tour dates below.
