Eminem is showering his Bad Meets Evil brother with praise. On Monday (Jan. 16), Royce 5’9 shared a text message from Slim Shady, celebrating his recent freestyles.

“Really?” wrote Em, who Royce saved in his address book as “Goat.” “Ur an asshole. Those fuckin freestyles u put out r devastating. Incredible. I hate u. Die.”

Clearly tongue-in-cheek, the praise was well received. Royce responded with a running emoji and a caption that read: “Haaaa Big Bro…. @eminem.”

Nickel Nine dropped one of those “devastating” freestyles yesterday. It was a remix of DJ Khaled, Jay Z, and Future’s “I Got the Keys.” Earlier this month, he also put his spin on PHresher’s banger “Wait a Minute.” Both can be heard here.

Of course, Em and Royce have a long history together. As a duo, they formed Bad Meets Evil in 1999. Since then, the pair has had ups and downs, including a feud and reconciliation. In 2011, they released their debut album, Hell: The Sequel, which topped the Billboard 200.

Em has also been instrumental in Slaughterhouse, a group that consists of Royce, KXNG Crooked, Joe Budden, and Joel Ortiz. He signed the crew to his label in 2011 and has since collaborated with them on various projects and freestyles.

Bad Meets Evil has been busy, though not as a duo. Royce dropped Tabernacle: Trust the Shooter and Layers last year. Meanwhile, Eminem is working on his follow-up to 2013’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
