Shortly after Lil Wayne teased Tha Carter V, Dedication 6, and Funeral, Young Money President Mack Maine reveals that Tunechi is also planning to release another project titled Velvet.
“We wanna get that Carter V out,” Maine told Revolt. “Wayne also has a dope project called Velvet. We want to get that out.”
As if that wasn’t enough Weezy for 2017, Mack says Wayne is also part of a group project titled L.A.T. featuring HoodyBaby and Gudda Gudda. “They going bananas,” he added.
That makes at least five new projects for Wayne, but that’s not all for YMCMB. The label is also planning to release Drake’s More Life and the follow-up to Nicki Minaj’s 2014 album The Pinkprint.
“Drake dropping top of the year,” Mack added. “Nicki got some features that — I’ve been in the studio with her lately — that she’s just killing. She also gonna be working on her solo project.”
Earlier today, Birdman also announced that Tha Carter V will see a release, despite Wayne’s ongoing legal battle with Cash Money.
“It’s definitely coming out,” he said. “The situation with me and my son, I’m going to put it all behind us and just let it move forward. Wayne is one of the best artists ever to do the game, and I want to see him continue to do what he been doing, and I’m going to support whatever he’s doing.”
There could be even more in store for Wayne. Last year, he teased a sequel to his joint ColleGrove project with 2 Chainz and recently, he hinted at a potential Young Money compilation. In September, Weezy alarmed fans when he seemed to retire in a series of frustrated tweets. However, he would later clarify his stance. “If that [tweet] was at 3:30 [a.m.], I probably was at the studio at 6,” he said. “The height of my talent or the height of my career, I haven’t reached that at all.”
