Mariah Carey sparked an ongoing feud with Jennifer Lopez when she claimed not to know Jenny from the Block. Now, she’s saying she doesn’t know many of her younger peers either.
While on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” on Sunday (Dec. 18), the “All I Want for Christmas Is You” diva was asked about Demi Lovato, who criticized her for the J.Lo comments.
“I don’t know her either so I wouldn’t say anything to her,” Mariah said. “She should come up, introduce herself to me, say, ‘Here’s my opinion. What do you think about it?’ That’s how you handle shit. Okay?”
But Demi and J.Lo aren’t alone in this. Mariah also played a game called “Does! She! Know! Her!?” on the show, where she claimed she also doesn’t know Miley Cyrus.
“I think we met in a bathroom once,” she said, when asked about Miley. “I don’t know.” When host Andy Cohen reminded her that the two performed together on “VH1 Divas” once, Carey added: “I’ve performed on that show a lot of times, [with] Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross… How am I supposed to remember everybody else?”
Another singer Mariah apparently doesn’t know is Ariana Grande, who was compared to MC earlier in her career. “Child, I don’t know when early in her career was,” said Carey. “I don’t know. I really don’t. Honestly, I’m not familiar. I listen to hip-hop more than I listen to pop music.”
