Ab-Soul just dropped his new album Do What Thou Wilt, but he’s also making headlines this week by confirming another LP: the long-rumored joint project between Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole.

During an appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” Soulo seemed hesitant to address the project at first. “I can’t speak on that,” he said. “I wish I could…These guys, they move like the mob. You never know with these guys… I don’t know too much about it. I just hope they use my verse. They just need to use my verse.”

Asked for clarity, Soulo added: “They got it. They got something in the works. They’ve been working on that motherfu**er for a while.”

Adding that he would like to see the album come together, he also said that it could be here today and gone tomorrow. “These guys will have something today and you come back next week, and they done brought Cardo Got Wings and Dahi. I’m like, ‘What happened to Sounwave?’ I just sit back and observe.”

Although he appeared to confirm it on the show, he would later become more cryptic in an e-mail to The FADER, in which he wrote: “It’s a myth *joker smile*.”

Of course, the Kendrick and Cole album has been talked about for years. In 2012, when asked about it by Rap-Up, Lamar smiled. “Everybody’s asking for that,” he said. “I just finished my album [good kid, m.A.A.d. city]. He’s going in for his second album [Born Sinner] so we should find a time in the medium to really go in and lock in.”

Elsewhere in his interview with “The Breakfast Club,” Soulo was asked about a potential Black Hippy project that would unite Kendrick, Soul, Jay Rock, and ScHoolboy Q. “Don’t worry about that,” he said. “When we do do that, that’s gotta be the most historical group album ever.”
