Just hours before unleashing his Tru EP, Lloyd unveils “Holding,” his latest collaboration with Lil Wayne.
Blending R&B with trap and some chopped-and-screwed influence, Lloyd sings about his willingness to do a bid for his lady. “I’m riding around the city in a foreign with the top off,” he sings. “If they try me, it’s gon’ pop off / You know I’m holding it while I’m holding you.”
Wayne comes through with a verse inspired by this concept. “That Bonnie, that Clyde,” raps Tunechi. “That Thelma and Lil Weezy / She say I’m like the pistol, you gon’ need me, feed me, squeeze me.”
This marks a reunion for the two, who previously collaborated on “Dedication to My Ex (Miss That),” “Girls Around the World,” and the chart-topping hits “You” and “BedRock.”
In addition to Weezy, Tru features Rick Ross on “Heavenly Body” and 2 Chainz on “Tru (Remix).” The EP will be followed by Out My Window, the R&B crooner’s first album since 2011’s King of Hearts.
