Lady Gaga sends Yeezy her love.
Following Chance the Rapper, Pusha T, Janelle Monáe, and others who have wished Kanye West well in the wake of his hospitalization, fellow superstar Lady Gaga delivered some heartfelt tweets about ‘Ye.
“It’s not funny to joke about anyone’s possible or not possible mental illness, this is a sensitive time for many,” she told her 65 million followers. “Let’s be kind & loving. While I don’t agree with everything he does I hope the public shows compassion and [love] for @kanyewest and each other. One love. One Race. @kanyewest i support & love u brother, I see in you bravery & courage to stop this tour & take care of YOU. You are a GREAT artist.”
Fans may recall that Yeezy and Gaga have ties. In 2009, the duo was set to go on their joint “Fame Kills Tour,” but the run was canceled. At the time, Gaga called it a “mutual decision,” but this year, Mr. West gave a different side of the story, claiming it had to do with his 2009 MTV Video Music Awards interruption of Taylor Swift.
“That night when I went on stage was the beginning of the end of my life,” he said. “Lady Gaga canceled the tour the next day. You know what night I’m talking about — when I just said what everyone else was thinking.”
Kanye was hospitalized this week due to exhaustion and sleep depravation. He may have also been placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold. He is currently recovering at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
