D∆WN is ready for Redemption.

On the eve of its release, Dawn Richard is giving fans a first listen to her third solo album via NPR.

The project, which serves as the final chapter in a trilogy that includes last year’s Blackheart and 2013’s Goldenheart, features contributions from Noisecastle III (“Black Crimes” and “LA”) and D∆WN’s fellow New Orleans natives Trombone Shorty (“LA”) and PJ Morton (“Vines”).

“I spent more time on this album than any other era because I wanted it to be special,” said D∆WN. “I wanted to speak on self discovery. What it means to be black. To be a woman. To speak on gay rights. To speak on black crimes. To talk about sexual discovery. And to find redemption in having a voice to do so.”

Earlier, she noted that “this album was built to shift. Change, move, and contort.”
