Alex Da Kid brings Wiz Khalifa, X Ambassadors, and Elle King together for a new heartbreak anthem, “Not Easy.”
While most of the song is about a relationship’s failure, Wiz opts to write about his musical journey and struggles.
“I remember that hole in the wall,” he raps. “Twelve of us in the bus, we was all going hard / Waiting for hard work to pay off / They’ll come and take your spot if you take a day off.”
Alex, who produced the track, wrote about the song’s creative inspiration in an annotation on Genius.
“The whole premise is to use a conventional subject [like heartbreak] that everyone on the planet has gone through,” he explained. “It feels familiar, yet people can still take it and apply it to their own experience and make it their own.”
This isn’t the first time Wiz has teamed up with X. The two acts also joined forces on “Sucker for Pain” off the Suicide Squad soundtrack.
