After dropping a Blonde bombshell on fans, Frank Ocean delivers a letter of gratitude.
Yesterday, following the release of his long-awaited album, which was previously titled Boys Don’t Cry, the reclusive singer thanked fans who waited for new material since 2012’s channel ORANGE. Taking to Tumblr, he delivered his message in all caps.
“I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE MAKING ALL OF THIS,” he wrote. “THANK YOU ALL. ESPECIALLY THOSE OF YOU WHO NEVER LET ME FORGET I HAD TO FINISH. WHICH IS BASICALLY EVERY ONE OF YA’LL. HAHA. LOVE YOU.”
Blonde, of course, is only one part of the equation when Frank writes “all of this.” It came just days after his Endless visual album and on the same date as his eccentric “Nikes” music video. It also arrived with a magazine titled Boys Don’t Cry, which was available in pop-up shops in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and London.
Snapshots from the magazine surfaced online (via @speriod), including a poem about McDonald’s written by Kanye West.
A star-studded album, Blonde features contributions from music’s biggest names, including Beyoncé, André 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Tyler, the Creator, Pharrell, Kanye West, and Jazmine Sullivan.
