Young Thug drops an ode to one of his biggest inspirations, Elton John.
Although his mixtape Jeffery has been delayed, Thugger has unleashed one of the project’s singles, “Elton,” featuring Wyclef Jean.
Teaming with the Fugees star, the artist now also known as No, My Name Is Jeffery harmonizes about sex, wealth, and his future over an uptempo track.
While Thug raps about how his pockets are “fat like Monique,” Clef provides sing-song raps about skinny dipping. “Jeffery,” he raps. “Be easy / After sex, she gon’ want to get married.”
On his birthday (Aug. 16), Thugger posted a behind-the-scenes clip with Wyclef singing “Happy Birthday.” Jeffery claimed the song would drop in one hour, but it was held back until today.

Even if the song doesn’t directly talk about him, Elton John might be pleased with the title. A self-proclaimed Thugger fan, he’s reportedly recruited him for a remix to “Rocket Man.”
“Elton” is set to appear on the highly-anticipated Jeffery, now rumored to drop Aug. 26 after an initial release date of Aug. 16. The project is also set to feature tracks referencing stars like Floyd Mayweather, Birdman, Swizz Beatz, and more.
