The Game is taking fans back to 1992.
After announcing the title and a tour, the Compton rapper has unveiled the cover art for his upcoming album on Instagram. Created by famed artist Joe Cool, the image features symbolic references to the year 1992.
Game revealed as much in a lengthy statement on Instagram. “[It] is inspired by what was going on in my life, my city & the world when I was 12 years old coming into my teenage years,” he wrote. “The Los Angeles Riots, Michael Jordan & the #DreamTeam featured above on my shirt won Olympic Gold…

“Crips & bloods were both pulling me in both directions,” he added. “Joining one of the gangs was almost a normality for a young African American male growing up in Compton & the surrounding areas of Los Angeles County…..
“Rodney King getting abused by the cops was an unforgettable incident & caused mass hysteria worldwide,” he continued. “the famous OJ Simpson car chase/trial was a huge worldwide televised situation that racially divided a country…. So these are some of the many topics based around my childhood touched on in this album Thst I wanted to include in the artwork.”
1992 is slated to drop Sept. 30 and unlike his past albums, it will reportedly contain “#NOFEATURES” except for Jeremih on the bonus track “All Eyez.” A video for the Scott Storch-produced single debuted this week.
Game is on a prolific streak this year. So far, he’s already released Streets of Compton, a soundtrack to his A&E documentary series, and Block Wars, the companion to his mobile video game.
