Young Thug is about to be the artist formerly known as Young Thug. According to his label head Lyor Cohen, the 300 artist will now be known by his new name: No, My Name Is Jeffery.
Cohen announced the big news on the Rap Radar podcast recently, explaining the rapper’s evolution as he readies his upcoming mixtape Jeffery.
“Young Thug is not going to be Young Thug anymore,” Cohen said. “His new name is going to be No, My Name Is Jeffery. No, My Name Is Jeffery. That’s his new name. And the reality is, when you see this commercial, you’re all going to understand what we do here at 300 because it’s powerful images of what makes someone Young Thug and the evolution and how someone is Jeffery. It’s a circular thing, it’s important…Utilize his name going forward because it’s important.”

Thugger is, in fact, getting ready to drop Jeffery. Earlier today, he released what looks like a tracklisting or a list of potential guests. The handwritten paper features big names, including Elton John, Birdman, Swizz Beatz, and Floyd Mayweather.
Jeffery is scheduled to drop tomorrow to coincide with Thug’s No, My Name Is Jeffery’s 25th birthday.
