The Birds will finally sing. After several delays, Travis Scott has announced that his highly-anticipated sophomore album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight will be uncaged on Aug. 5.
During a performance at the Ford Amphitheater in Brooklyn on Tuesday (Jul. 26), Scott made the big announcement.
“I want everybody to lock in a date right now in their brains,” he said. “August 5th. Birds in the Trap coming soon!”
La Flame also celebrated by debuting a new song off the album, tentatively titled “Shit to Lose.”
A release date for Birds has been teased for some time now. Just last month, Scott promised that the album would drop in a week. Since then, Travis has opened up about the sound while confirming that it would arrive via Apple Music.
“It’s consistent,” he told DJ Whoo Kid. “It’s a lot of good songs. That was my whole thing. I wanted a lot of good songs and no fillers. With this joint, it’s mad tracks, good songs.”
So far, the album has spawned the single “Pick Up the Phone” featuring Young Thug and Quavo.
Birds marks the sequel to Scott’s debut Rodeo, which opened at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in September 2015. A third album, Astroworld, is set to follow.
