Alessia Cara empowers with “Scars to Your Beautiful.”

In honor of her 20th birthday, the “Here” songstress has revealed her moving video about self-love. “You should know you’re beautiful just the way you are,” she sings. “You don’t have to change a thing, the world can change its heart.”

Several people share personal struggles with self-love in the video, including JoJo, who makes a cameo. “A lot of people aren’t afraid to give their opinions,” she says. “Whether they’re hurtful or not.”

Teaming up with the empowerment campaign I Am That Girl, Cara also says the track is important to her. “The world sometimes tells us that we shouldn’t be happy with ourselves if we don’t fit certain standards of beauty,” she told Cosmopolitan. “‘Scars To Your Beautiful’ is my reminder that beauty isn’t only one look, shape, size, or color. Beauty comes in all forms—tangible and intangible—inside and out. We need to recognize that.”

She will perform the potent single on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on July 19. After that, on Sept. 29, she will hit the road for a 21-city run on the “Know-It-All Tour Part 2.”
