All hail Queen Bey.
On Sunday (Jun. 26), BET held its annual awards to commemorate the year in music and entertainment and several of the industry’s biggest names were given many reasons to celebrate.
Beyoncé didn’t just show up for a surprise opener with Kendrick Lamar. The LEMONADE chart-topper also won in five categories, including Video of the Year for “Formation,” Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, and the FANdemonium Award.
While Bey was on a flight to Europe to launch the next leg of her “Formation World Tour,” her mother Tina Lawson accepted on her behalf, thanking Mathew Knowles and Jay Z during her two speeches.
“I wanna thank her husband and her daughter Blue for always willing to share her with all of us,” said Mama Tina.
Drake was a no-show, but the Young Money rapper did collect three awards including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Best Group with Future. The “Wicked” rapper was on hand to accept the honor.
Nicki Minaj took home Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, marking her seventh consecutive win in the category.
Elsewhere, Bryson Tiller collected his first two awards ever for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and Best New Artist to go along with his explosive performance of “Exchange” and “Don’t.”
