Calling all pretty young things. Wale is back to serenade the ladies on his new single “My P.Y.T,” which pays homage to Michael Jackson’s Thriller classic. In addition to borrowing lyrics from the King of Pop, the self-proclaimed “James Bond ni**a” crowns his queen and promises to be the only man she needs.

“I wanna love you, pretty young thing / You need some lovin’ from a real one,” he sings on The Dope Boyz-produced track.

The day he wrote the record, he met MJ’s mother, Katherine Jackson. “It inspired me so much that it was pretty much all I could think about in the studio later that night,” Wale told EW. “I wanted to pay homage to the legend that is Michael in some way, and the chorus popped into my head and just felt right with the music. It’s just one of those songs that’s been omnipresent in my life since I was a kid.”

The D.C. spitter has been in the studio working on his fifth album SHINE (Still Here Ignoring Negative Energy), the follow-up to 2015’s The Album About Nothing, due this fall.

“This is my first upbeat, ‘for the clubs’ record in years,” he added. “I’m coming back with an album of straight hits.”
