Drake has much to celebrate. In addition to topping the Billboard 200 and becoming the most-streamed artist on Spotify, the Views rapper scored seven nominations at Canada’s iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards.
He tied “Here” hitmaker Alessia Cara, while The Weeknd and Shawn Mendes earned six nominations apiece, according to Billboard.
Former collaborators Drake and The Weeknd will be rivals in the Video of the Year category, which pits Cara’s “Here,” Belly and The Weeknd’s “Might Not,” Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” Grimes’ “Flesh Without Blood,” and Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
“Hotline” and “Might Not” also duke it out for the Best Hip-Hop Video award, joined by SonReal’s “Woah Nilly,” John River’s “Get Down,” and Jazz Carter’s “The Valley/Dead or Alive.”
Abel and Drizzy will also be facing off against Justin Bieber, Cara, and Mendes for the Most Buzzworthy Canadian Artist honors, while Adele, Rihanna, Kanye West, Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez, and Taylor Swift are all slated to battle it out for the Best International Artist of the Year trophy.
Cara, Fifth Harmony, Nick Jonas, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will take the stage during the Gigi Hadid-hosted MMVAs, which will broadcast live on Canada’s Much and CTV channels on June 19. Fans can also stream the show live via Much.com.
