Kehlani is back with a message. More than a month after a reported suicide attempt, the Bay Area songstress delivers “24/7,” a new song that appears to delve into depression.
“It’s OK to not be OK,” she sings. “To dive in your pain / And it’s alright to not be alright / To search for your light.”
The DZL-produced song goes on to discuss the ups and downs of life. “I don’t know nobody who thinks that they’re somebody 24/7,” she sings as the song closes. “I don’t know nobody who smiles at everybody 24/7.”
In March, Kehlani was hospitalized after a reported suicide attempt. While the details remain unclear, the songstress had been criticized online for appearing in a photo with PARTYNEXTDOOR.
Although her ex Kyrie Irving eventually denied that they were together when the photo was taken, some believed she was unfaithful to the basketball player with her former R&B star beau.
Kehlani then shared a photograph from what appeared to be a hospital bed. It showed her arm hooked up to an IV.
“today I wanted to leave this earth,” she captioned the photo. “Being completely selfish for once. Never thought I’d get to such a low point. But.. Don’t believe the blogs you read .. No one was cheated on and I’m not a bad person.”
