Sixteen years after Love & Basketball was released, Kirko Bangz unleashes a single based on the film that starred Omar Epps and Sanaa Lathan.

In fact, Kirko name-checks Epps and Lathan on the Burd & Keys and The Mekanics-produced track. But the Houston rapper-singer also packs his lyrics with a ton of other references, including Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and MySpace’s long lost Top 8 feature. Still, the focus here is on the film with an excerpt from the movie closing out the cut and a still from the picture acting as its cover art.

Love & Basketball has received a lot of love since its release. In January, Lil Durk and DeJ Loaf recreated key scenes from the movie for their “My Beyoncé” video.
