The Alchemist is emptying his vault. The heralded Beverly Hills producer just unleashed the original version of ScHoolboy Q’s “Hoover Street,” which fans will remember from the Top Dawg MC’s 2014 album Oxymoron.
ALC’s production here varies from the album version, but it’s just as gritty and potent. ScHoolboy flows over Al’s dirty drums and samples passionately, rhyming about his life on the streets, his introduction to gang banging, and his grandma’s gun.
This is the first release off ALC Records’ limited 45 series, Craft Singles. It’s available for pre-order now and expected to drop March 11. Other Craft Singles from MC Eiht, Blu, and Migos are set to drop later this year. Check out the series’ release schedule below.
Meanwhile, SBQ is working on the follow-up to Oxymoron and just last month previewed a new song called “Groovy Tony.”
