Queen Bey honors the King of Pop. If you thought Beyoncé’s black-and-gold Super Bowl ensemble was an homage to Michael Jackson’s 1993 halftime show outfit, you were right.
“It was,” Bey told “Extra,” when asked about the wardrobe tribute. “It’s the 50th anniversary so I gave love to my favorite performer.”
In the brief and rare interview, ‘Yoncé also spoke about the performance, which included the live debut of “Formation.” “It was super exciting,” she said. “I’m very excited for Chris [Martin], Coldplay, and Bruno [Mars] was awesome.”
The Jackson family also inspired the lyrics to Beyoncé’s “Formation.” “I like my negro nose with Jackson 5 nostrils,” Sasha Fierce sings on the Mike WiLL Made-It-produced single.
While ‘Yoncé’s MJ-inspired performance earned praise, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani offered a different take, calling it “outrageous” and “terrible,” according to the New York Daily News.
Giuliani might not be a fan, but the BeyHive should be excited for 2016. In April, Queen Bey is set to embark on “The Formation World Tour.”
