Shortly after blasting his label Def Jam for leaking his album, August Alsina has officially released his sophomore project, This Thing Called Life.
The LP, which follows his 2014 debut Testimony, is led by the singles “Hip Hop,” “Song Cry,” and the Lil Wayne-assisted “Why I Do It.” This Thing Called Life also includes the Puff Daddy-sampled “Been Around the World” with Chris Brown, plus appearances from Anthony Hamilton and Jadakiss, and touts production from Knucklehead, Soundz, R. City, Boi-1da, and more.
The set arrives two days after the New Orleans native took to Twitter to criticize his record label for leaking the album to Vevo. “FUCKKKKKKKKK YOU @DefJamRecords,” tweeted Alsina, who later clarified his remarks on Instagram.
“My ‘Fuck You’ tweet came from a place of frustration,” he wrote. “I can’t express to you how much hard work was poured into this album, it’s [sic] presentation & roll out so for it to be leaked because of careless mistakes hurts me to the core.”
