Coke Boys and Zoo Gang are joining forces. French Montana and Fetty Wap have announced plans for a joint mixtape called Coke Zoo.
In an interview with Billboard, French revealed that the concept came together while he and Fetty were on the road together during Chris Brown’s “One Hell of a Nite” tour. The name combines Coke Boys, Montana’s label, with Zoo Gang, Fetty’s crew.
“When me and Max [B] did it, when me and Three 6 Mafia did it—when I love a sound…it’s just something new,” said French. “We’re both from the East—I feel like it’s big for our culture.”
Keeping things in the family, appropriately, Coke Boys affiliated producer Zack and Fetty Wap’s primary producer Peoples will both be featured. They were also in the studio with Chris Brown, but it’s unclear if the collaboration will appear on Coke Zoo or Chris’ album Royalty.
“I’m excited to work with Fetty—I just feel like he has this new energy, I’d never heard nobody like that,” added French. “He brings a different style to the game. I always feel like when two artists come together, put their sounds together, magic comes out of it.”
They plan to announce a release date for the project next week via French’s Instagram.
During the interview, French also revealed that his long-awaited sophomore LP Mac & Cheese: The Album is due out before the end of the year. “The date might have moved like a week or two weeks later, but we’re still dropping [it]. It’s done, it’s ready to go,” he said. “The first record [off the album] is coming really soon—obviously after this mixtape.”
