Adele, Tina Turner, Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, and now Sam Smith has joined the James Bond legacy. The British crooner’s “Writing’s On the Wall” serves as the theme song to the upcoming 24th Bond film Spectre.
Co-written by Smith and Jimmy Napes, the cinematic track finds Smith effortlessly singing in a falsetto over cascading orchestration and piano keys.
“I have been dreaming of this moment for a long long time,” said Smith, who is the first British male solo artist since 1965 to sing a Bond song. “I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”
The song is now available on iTunes, while Spectre is set to hit U.S. theaters on Nov. 6.
