Eminem transforms from rap god to superhero in the action-packed video for “Phenomenal,” which debuted exclusively on Apple Music. In the epic 7-minute short film, the Detroit rapper is on a quest to find out who he is. He wakes up in a hospital room and realizes that he has superhuman strength. After knocking out everyone who gets in his way, he races through the streets of Tokyo on a motorcycle in a scene straight out of a movie.
Along the way, he receives words of wisdom from a stranger (John Malkovich) and steals a car from a fan (Randall Park), but not before he takes a selfie with Em. Marshall then hijacks a helicopter before getting a text from Dr. Dre on his Apple Watch. He jumps out of the plane just seconds before it blows up and finds himself where he’s supposed to be all along, on stage with a mic in hand.
“Phenomenal” is the first single off the Southpaw soundtrack, due July 24. The compilation was executive produced by Eminem and features a collaboration between Em and Gwen Stefani (“Kings Never Die”), plus contributions from Bad Meets Evil, 50 Cent, Action Bronson, and The Weeknd.
