King Kendrick is ruling the charts. The TDE rapper is headed straight for the top spot with To Pimp a Butterfly.
The surprise release, which has been receiving rave reviews, should give K-Dot his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week.
According to Billboard, the album is set to push over 325,000 units in its first week.
To Pimp a Butterfly hit iTunes at midnight on March 16, a week ahead of its original release date. The physical version trickled into most major brick-and-mortar stores this week.
Kendrick’s previous effort, 2012’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city, debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, moving 241,000 units in its first week. It has sold 1.4 million copies to date.
Additionally, To Pimp a Butterfly has set a one-day streaming record on Spotify. The album was streamed 9.8 million times in its second day.
