Lil Wayne

Is Lil Wayne working on a new mixtape? The rapper is reportedly prepping Sorry 4 the Wait 2 to hold fans over until the release of Tha Carter V.

During an interview with Felicia Monet on Miami’s WEDR 99 Jamz, Young Money president Mack Maine announced that Weezy was finishing up C5 and was about to start recording a “special project for the people.”

“He’s always working hard for his fans,” he said.

Further fueling reports, Young Money affiliate Fee Banks (via Lil Wayne HQ) posted an Instagram photo of Wayne in the studio along with the caption: “Sorry 4 the Wait 2” and a “soon” emoji.

Weezy’s 2011 mixtape Sorry 4 the Wait was released in the interim for Tha Carter IV.

Earlier this month, Wayne took to Twitter to reveal that Tha Carter V won’t be released because Birdman and Cash Money refuse to put it out.

The album, which will be released in two parts, has no current release date, but Mack Maine did say that it would arrive in the first quarter of 2015. He also remains optimistic about Wayne’s future with YMCMB.

“I pray that everything works itself out,” said Mack. “It’s getting handled as we speak.”
