Before she hits the big screen in Fifty Shades of Grey next February, Rita Ora lends her voice to the romantic drama Beyond the Lights. Roc Nation’s blonde bombshell belts out hopeful lyrics on the resilient anthem “Grateful,” penned by Diane Warren.
“But I had to fall to rise above it all,” sings Rita. “I’m grateful for the storm / Made me appreciate the sun / I’m grateful for the wrong one / Made me appreciate the right one / I’m grateful for the pain / For everything that made me brave.”
Due November 11, the soundtrack also features a collaboration with Mavado and Nicki Minaj, Yuna, and Machine Gun Kelly, who stars in the film.
“I’m so proud of it and Rita Ora did an amazing vocal,” said Warren. “I am so happy she had me write this song. I think it can be a career song for her. It shows a whole different side to her and I’m hoping we get to hear it all over the radio and see her sing it on the Oscars next year!”
Rita has been in the studio with Diplo, DJ Mustard, and Macklemore working on her first U.S. album, which is slated for release in early 2015.
