Lupe Fiasco will kick off the new year with a new album. The Chicago rapper’s fifth LP Tetsuo & Youth finally has a release date.
The follow-up to 2012’s Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 will arrive on January 20, 2015, according to Atlantic Records.
It has spawned several tracks including “Old School Love” with Ed Sheeran, the cancer survivors’ anthem “Mission,” and the Ty Dolla $ign-assisted single “Next to It.” Lupe also revealed that Chris Brown would be featured on the song “Crack.”
He recently became frustrated with his label again and announced plans for a mixtape called Lost in the Atlantic.
“ATLANTIC RECORDS won’t release the album until they get a ‘pop’ single…so putting together a mini-project while they find one for me,” said Lupe. “It’s called Lost In The Atlantic Ocean with a bunch of my friends to stay active and happy.”
It’s unclear if he still has plans to release the project now that he has a release date.
He previewed one of the new tracks, “Haile Selassie,” which features Soundtrakk and Nikki Jean.
