Jennifer Hudson kicked off her album release week with an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” The R&B diva hit the stage to perform her single “Dangerous” and chatted about her alter ego Jones, inspired by Grace Jones, and her new album JHUD.
“It represents my person and not so much Jennifer Hudson the persona,” she said of her latest work.
On Wednesday morning, she faced the heat from Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy on “The Breakfast Club.” She spoke about her fiancé David Otunga (“We gon’ get married, I’m just not in no hurry”), her five-year-old son, and her weight loss.
She worked with fellow Chicagoan R. Kelly on “It’s Your World.” “I’ve always been a fan ’cause he’s such a musician, he’s a genius,” she said.
The Oscar winner wants to play Aretha Franklin in a biopic (“That’s my dream role”) and would gain weight for the role.
She and her Dreamgirls co-star Beyoncé remain friends, and she shot down reports that they had a feud.
Jennifer listens to her peers including K. Michelle and Keyshia Cole (“I think they’re great at what they do”), but her favorite artist is Mali Music. Plus, hear Charlamagne put her on to Migos’ “Fight Night.”
