August Alsina shares his story of struggle, hustle, and survival in the compelling video for “Make It Home,” the first single off his upcoming debut Testimony. The New Orleans crooner connects with his Def Jam labelmate Jeezy in the Payne Lindsey-directed clip, which plays out in reverse.
The album’s April 15 release date coincides with the birthday of his older brother, Melvin LaBranch III, who inspired August to pursue music. Melvin was tragically gunned down in New Orleans in 2010.
“As an artist, I struggle with how much of myself to give to the people,” said August. “Nothing is held back on Testimony. When people hear my story, and see that I came from nothing, they’ll see that it’s possible for them too.”
You can catch August opening for 2 Chainz on his “2 G.O.O.D. to Be T.R.U. Tour,” which wraps March 24 in Washington, D.C.
