Neon Hitch captivated our attention with her 2011 covers of Waka Flocka Flame, Wiz Khalifa, and Kreayshawn. Now the British songstress rings in the new year with her free mixtape 301 to Paradise.
The self-described gypsy takes inspiration from her idol Marilyn Monroe on the six tracks helmed by Kinetics & One Love. She puts a jazzy spin on Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” and pays homage to Monroe’s 1959 film on “Some Like It Hot,” with sound bites from the late Hollywood legend.
“It’s kind of like an audio movie,” Hitch told OK! magazine. “It’s very inspired by Marilyn Monroe. And it’s a mixture of my travels, my story, and Marilyn’s story. It’s partially fictional, but it’s based on a true story. It’s very gypsified.”
Her debut album is due later this year.
