Danity Kane reunited on the red carpet at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards. Dawn, Aubrey, Aundrea, and Shannon made their first public appearance together, where they announced their new single “Rage.”
The rock-tinged record was produced by the Stereotypes and is expected to drop soon. “It’s a better sound for us,” Dawn told Billboard. “It’s a live sound, and I think you’ve never heard Danity Kane with live guitar, live drum, more of a rock vibe, and I think that’s gonna be impressive for us and I think people are gonna see a whole new side of us.”
DK’s fifth member, D. Woods, was noticeably missing from the group. She released a statement explaining her decision not to return.
“Much love to the ladies of DK!! They have decided to reunite and I, like our amazing fans, will be cheering them on,” she told Us Weekly.
She has decided to focus on her solo career. “For the past couple of years, myself and the other DK members have been working on other projects individually, such as music, film, television, theater, and philanthropy and I have recently signed on to several projects that will have me committed for the next year.”
But she didn’t rule out a future reunion with her bandmates. “If the opportunity presents itself, I would definitely be open to recording and/or performing with Danity Kane again,” she continued. “I appreciate all the love and support of DK and myself. God bless!”
The ladies have been catching up since their split five years ago. “We’re back at a place where we can speak to each other and hang with each other,” Dawn told Rap-Up TV. “It’s been a long time since we just sipped some wine and been like, ‘What up girl?'”
