J. Cole finally has the No. 1 album in the country. After competing with Kanye West and Wale, the Roc Nation rapper reigns at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with Born Sinner.
In its third week on the chart, Cole’s sophomore set jumps 2-1 with 58,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. To date, the album has moved 439,000 copies surpassing the overall sales of Yeezus (431,000).
He thanked his fans for their support. “3 weeks later. #1 Album in the country. Born Sinner. Thank You,” tweeted Cole. “Follow your Heart. You won’t fail.”
The album debuted at No. 2 (297,000) behind Yeezus and then lost the No. 1 spot to Wale’s The Gifted a week ago. According to Billboard, albums rarely climb to No. 1 after their debut.
Last week’s chart-topper, Wale’s The Gifted, slides to No. 2 (50,000), while Yeezus drops 2-3 (39,000) in its third week.
