Lil Wayne

Are Lil Wayne’s days as a rapper numbered? The Young Money superstar has plans to retire after he releases Tha Carter V.

“I know ya’ll want me around for a little bit and Carter V is my last album,” Wayne told Sway during MTV News’ special “MTV First: Lil Wayne.”

His passion for skating has taken precedence over his music. “I’ve been rapping since I was eight years old. That’s a long time,” said Tunechi. “I’d like to do so many more things, and when I like to do something, I end up loving to do it real quick. When I love to do something, I’m fully focused on it and it only. Music is sometimes not that it.”

But have no worries, he’s not hanging up the mic anytime soon. Before Carter V, he will release I Am Not a Human Being II on February 19. The follow-up to 2010’s I Am Not a Human Being includes contributions from David Banner (“Shit Stains”), StreetRunner, Kane Beatz, Cool & Dre, and three dark records with Juicy J (“Itchy,” “Walk,” and “Trippy Kid”).

He also has a collaboration with Drake and Future entitled “Bitches Love Me,” which features Drizzy on the hook. “He gave me one of them banging hooks, so I told him the hook was so amazing, he didn’t need to say nothing else on the album,” said Wayne, who’s saving Drizzy’s verses for Tha Carter V. “I already know that song is probably gonna be one of the biggest songs on the album.”

Additionally, he wants Nicki Minaj to add a verse to a Diplo-produced song called “Lay It Down.” “To me it gives me the vibe and feeling of when [Timbaland] and Missy was really in that zone,” he said, comparing the song to an Aaliyah record.

While it was previously reported that Kanye West would be on the album, Weezy cleared things up. “He didn’t do any music on this album, but ‘Ye is actually packaging my album,” he revealed. “It was his idea. I was like, ‘OK, whatever.'”

Kanye and his DONDA design team will create the album cover and inside packaging like he did for 2 Chainz’ Based on a T.R.U. Story. “He wanted that. He was like, ‘I wanna package Wayne’s album.'”

Weezy let him have free reign. “I’ma let ‘Ye do what he do. As long as it ain’t nothin’ out the box crazy. ‘Ye is ‘Ye, he’s a genius.”
