Melanie Amaro embarks on her life after “X Factor” in her first music video for “Don’t Fail Me Now.” The 20-year-old songstress shows how far she’s come in a year since trying out for the talent competition.
“The song definitely describes the journey that I’ve had through life and throughout ‘X Factor,’ the determination of my feet that they can’t fail me, I gotta get to where I need to be,” said Melanie. “My life has changed now because I walk down the street and it’s like, ‘Oh my God, you’re Melanie Amaro.’ I went from just going to school being a normal girl that nobody every recognized or paid attention to to everyone knowing who I am.”
Director Benny Boom wanted to showcase this. “When I first heard the song, I knew I wanted the video to have movement to it and be a journey,” he said. “I thought of a clever way of taking her on this journey by using a rear-screen projector. She’s no longer the ‘X Factor’ contestant, she is the winner, and I wanted to make sure that we made a video that showed that.”
Melanie’s debut album is due in December on Epic Records.
