The King is back. T.I. has been released from a prison in Arkansas after serving 10 months behind bars.
Chris Burke, spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, tells TMZ that the rapper left Forrest City Correctional Facility at 7:29 a.m. local time on Wednesday (Aug. 31) and is “in transit” to serve the remainder of his time in a halfway facility.
“Feels great to be back where I belong…Back in the arms of those who need me the most,” tweeted Tip. “The storm is over & da sun back out. IT’S OUR TIME TO SHINE SHAWTY!!!!! Welcome to the beginning of our Happy Ending!!!!”
He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in September 2010, which violated terms of his probation stemming from a federal gun conviction back in 2009. He checked into prison on November 1 and was originally scheduled to be released in late September.
His friends celebrated his homecoming on Twitter. “Welcome Home @tip sending u & my girl @TinyMajorMama my loveU both let your love 4 each other lead the way. Im so happy your together again,” wrote fellow ATLien Monica.
In a recent letter to his fans, he vowed to start anew upon his release. “When I touch down, I’m going all the way back to square one, like I’m fresh in the game and never sold a record. Back on some I’M SERIOUS, TRAP MUZIK shit,” he wrote.
