CyHi the Prynce and Kanye West

By now, fans have chosen a favorite verse from Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Friday release “So Appalled.” However, listeners may have never heard CyHi the Prynce spit choice lines like “If God had an iPod I’d be on his playlist” if it wasn’t for the rapper’s sneaky ways.

“I wasn’t supposed to be on ‘So Appalled,’ the G.O.O.D. Music signee tells staging-rapup.kinsta.cloud. “People don’t know that. I kinda cheated. [Kanye] said, ‘Can you think of something to write on the hook?’ I peeped he was kinda sleepy at the time. So he went to sleep, went to the room or something. I stayed in the studio and I said I’m not gonna just do no hook. I’m gonna do my verse.”

While West was fast asleep, CyHi grabbed the mic and went to work in the booth. “I did a verse and didn’t tell him the verse was on there and I hid it,” the Decatur, Georgia native reveals. “He was playing the album for some very important musicians and he played the song. He don’t know my verse is gonna come on and everybody in the room goes bananas. He said, ‘I gotta keep it.'”

The track’s mass appeal has caused the rapper’s daily activities to turn into a bit of a spectacle. While he’s grateful for the recognition, CyHi is still growing accustomed to being thrown in the spotlight. “I’m more popular than what I think I am,” he says. “I be trying to do normal stuff. I’m from the streets too. So I might be in a place and people staring at you, I’m thinking they’re gonna rob me or do harm to me. All they wanna know is, ‘Is this CyHi? I love your stuff!'”

CyHi’s new mixtape, Royal Flush, features his Kanye, RZA, Jay-Z, Pusha T, and Swizz Beatz collabo as well as 16 other tracks.
