Kid Sister has given her long-delayed debut album a makeover, including a new title, single, and release date.

The set, originally due in 2008, was pushed back after the Chicago MC decided to go back in the studio to record new material. The first single from the reworked effort will be the club-geared “Right Hand Hi” produced by Steve Angello and Sebastian of Swedish House Mafia.

The album will no longer be called Koko B. Ware or Dream Date. A new title will be announced in the near future.

“I took three songs off and put on five new ones,” she tells Pitchfork. “There are no mid-tempo songs now—it’s all uptempo hip-hop mixed with house.”

Among the songs you won’t find on the album are “Family Reunion” featuring David Banner and “First Ladies” featuring Estelle. The latter will be replaced by a new collaboration with Estelle.

Kid Sister describes the sound of the record as hip-hop meets dance. “Everything’s super dance-y,” she says. “I was the first one to do a dance record with someone from the rap world and make a video for it and everything—I made a name for myself doing that stuff.”

Look for her debut album this fall on Fool’s Gold/Downtown Records.
