The Academy Award nominations were announced this morning in Los Angeles. Dreamgirls led the pack with eight nominations, but was surprisingly shut out in the best picture category. Eddie Murphy was nominated for best supporting actor and Jennifer Hudson for best supporting actress. In the song category, Dreamgirls grabbed three nominations including “Listen,” “Love You I Do,” and “Patience.” Beyoncé was noticeably absent from the list of writers credited for “Listen.” Should the song win, only three writers will receive the Oscar and Beyoncé is not one of them. The film has a 60% chance of winning in the song category. Click here for a full list of nominees. The 79th Annual Academy Awards will take place on February 25 in Hollywood.

We have to admit we’re shocked the film didn’t get nominated for best picture, especially after it won the Golden Globe. What do you think of the nominees?
