Metro Boomin’s mother has died after a horrific incident.

Leslie Joanne Wayne was reportedly killed at the hands of her husband, who then took his own life. According to TMZ, cops are investigating the murder, which occurred just outside the Atlanta area on Friday night (June 3). The man was married to Leslie, but was not Metro’s biological father.

Metro’s rep confirms Leslie died this weekend. An autopsy will be conducted for an official cause of death.

Metro Boomin has not addressed the tragedy, but his friends took to social media to pay their respects.

“Prayers up for Metro Boomin,” tweeted Juicy J, while DeJ Loaf commented, “Love + light to you @MetroBoomin.”

The 28-year-old producer previously spoke about his mother, who he described as his “biggest inspiration.” “My name is Leland Tyler Wayne,” he told The FADER in a 2016 interview. “My mom wanted to give me a name where, no matter what I wanted to do, I’d be able to do it. An astronaut. President. Whatever. Leland Wayne.”

His father wasn’t around, so his mom did all she could to support her son’s dreams. “I knew that he was hurting so much,” Leslie said in the same interview, “which is part of what made me support him so much in the music.”

Metro Boomin remains one of hip-hop’s most in-demand hitmakers, working with superstars like Drake, Kanye West, The Weeknd, Future, and Migos.
