Kelis is mourning the death of her husband.
Mike Mora, who married the “Milkshake” singer in 2005, has died after a battle with stage 4 stomach cancer. He was 37.
“Sadly, it’s true that Mike Mora has passed away. We would ask all to respect Kelis and her family’s privacy as of right now. Thank you,” Kelis’ manager, Steve Satterhwaite, told “Entertainment Tonight” on Monday.
Mora, who was a professional photographer, revealed that his symptoms first started in September 2020 after experiencing “the worst pain” in his stomach. At the time, doctors told him that he had only 18 months to live.
“I thought the whole time that I just had an ulcer. With no idea what was about to come my way,” he wrote in September 2021. “Here I was, in a hospital bed, during the middle of the pandemic. All alone.”
Kelis has not publicly commented on her husband’s death, but Evan Ross paid tribute to his friend. “We lost a brother Yesterday. We will truly miss you Mike,” he wrote in a since-deleted post. “Thinking of some of the great times we all spent together.”
He added, “Everything I saw you do. Was built in passion. I loved connecting again with you. Hearing about your children and the life you and your wife have built. Im sending all the prayers and love to your family brother. @kelis ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️RIP @mikemorafotos.”
Mora and Kelis secretly married in 2014 and share two children: son Shepherd, 6, and daughter Galilee, 1. Kelis also has a son Knight, 12, with ex-husband Nas.
