YG’s krazy life continues.
The Compton rapper has announced his first album in nearly two years, Pray for Me. Speaking with Power 106’s “Power Mornings,” he opened up about the follow-up to 2019’s 4Real 4Real, which will showcase his evolution.
“It’s just the growth of me, my headspace, what I’m on in life,” said YG. “And I think the whole COVID pandemic shit, I hated it, but I also look at it as like this shit kinda helped me get to where I’m at mentally.”
He plans to share his experiences over the past couple years on his latest project. “The music is just gonna be my truth, as far as my life right now.”
After the West Coast shut down amid the coronavirus pandemic, YG decided to take a step back. He waited to release new music because he felt the timing wasn’t right.
But now he’s ready take it back to the club. On Friday, he dropped the album’s first single and video for “Scared Money” featuring J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo.
Elsewhere in the interview, he revealed that he originally signed a “fu**ed up” deal with Def Jam, where he released his last four albums. However, he ended up extending his contract with the label and now owns his masters.
