Kanye West is under investigation following an alleged altercation with a fan.
According to FOX 11, Ye was leaving Soho Warehouse in downtown L.A. around 3 a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 13) when a fan asked for an autograph. The man claims he saw Ye sitting in his car and approached him. After “words were exchanged,” the fan alleges that Ye jumped out of the car and punched him, knocking him to the floor.
Police were called, but Ye had left by the time they arrived. The LAPD is investigating the case as a misdemeanor battery, a crime that carries a maximum jail sentence of six months.
Video obtained by TMZ shows an enraged Ye arguing with someone between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, but it’s unclear if the footage is of the actual incident.
“Did y’all say that or not? Did y’all say that or not?” he appears to say. “‘Cause that’s what happened right fu**in’ now.”
Earlier in the evening, Kanye was spotted partying with his girlfriend Julia Fox, along with Madonna and Antonio Brown at Delilah in West Hollywood. The couple showed PDA before Ye left the club and Julia stuck around.
UPDATE: New video has surfaced via TMZ that shows Kanye screaming at a woman after the alleged altercation with an autograph seeker. “Get away from me,” he tells the woman, who is reportedly his cousin. “I am your family,” she says while telling him to give him her hand.
The video was filmed after Ye allegedly punched the man twice, once in the head and once in the neck. The autograph seeker fell and hit the ground.
The incident occurred after Ye reportedly asked a group of people outside Soho Warehouse not to take photos and said something about them not understanding what he’s going through right now. When someone tried to tell him that everything was OK, Ye allegedly attacked the man.
The alleged victim refused medical treatment at the scene, but was later checked out at urgent care.
