Kendrick Lamar may be getting closer to dropping new music.
Fans are speculating that the Compton rapper’s return is imminent after Spotify updated his desktop profile pic to display a new black-and-white photo. K-Dot is seen wearing a hoodie with the word “Volunteer” on it while looking down and striking a pensive pose.
According to HipHop-N-More, this would mark the first time that Kendrick’s profile pic has changed since 2017.
To add to the rumors, snippets of several new tracks have supposedly leaked including one called “Therapy Session.”
Friday also marks the 9th anniversary of his sophomore album good kid, m.A.A.d city, so the timing would be appropriate.
Despite the fan frenzy, neither Kendrick nor TDE has hinted at anything dropping tonight. Back in August, Kendrick announced that he was working on his final album for TDE and launched the website oklama.com.
“As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years,” he wrote in a statement. “There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown.”
He did not specify a timeline for dropping, only writing, “See you soon enough.”
It’s been over four years since Kendrick released his last album, 2017’s DAMN. He is set to headline the Day N Vegas festival next month, but he will only perform material from his past—from Section.80 to DAMN.
