Kelis returns with her first solo music in seven years.

On “Midnight Snacks,” the Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter takes it back to her Kaleidoscope days as she serves up a tasty after-hours jam.

“Guilty pleasures, I just can’t deny / I’m greedy and I don’t care,” she sings on the irresistible hook.

The song was recorded in a studio on a boat in London and produced by The FaNaTix (Nicki Minaj, Popcaan). “I heard the beat, thought it was dope, and the first thing that came to mind was ‘Midnight Snacks,'” said Kelis. “It’s funny to me, but I like the fact that you can take sex and food, and you can put these two things together, and they’re totally interchangeable. I love that.”

The video for “Midnight Snacks” was directed by photographer/director Adrienne Raquel (Travis Scott, Rihanna) and finds the Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef surrounded by sweet treats in a retro dreamscape, “inspired by the 1990s and paired with the glamour of the 1970s.”

“Midnight Snacks” marks Kelis’ first solo music since her 2014 album Food. Last year, she celebrated the 20-year anniversary of her groundbreaking debut Kaleidoscope.
